Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers 2010 North American Tour stopped in Cincinnati on Thursday July 15th.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers recently released their 12th studio album titled Mojo.  Prior to Mojo’s June 14, 2010 release date, the band hadn’t recorded an album together in 8 years.  One interesting fact about this new album is that the band recorded it in a live setting without any type of studio overdubs.  The result is a very jam oriented and free-flowing album.  This type of approach to recording an album isn’t new, but it does a great job of capturing the essence of what a true Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers live experience is.  Coupled with the fact that all 15 songs are new offerings from these 6 musicians, Mojo is another great step in the evolution of this classic band.

That spirit of the Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers live experience was ever so present on Thursday July 15 at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati.  The band stopped in Cincinnati as part of their 2010 North American tour.  The night was full of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classics as well as a few off of the new album, Mojo.  As Tom stated last night to the crowd, “We are dying to play you some new music off of our new album Mojo”.  Responding with a thunderous roar, the crowd made it known that they were ready for some new musical treats.  Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers delivered a classic rock-n-roll show on the banks of the Ohio River last night. They also showed fans, young and old alike, that they still have what it takes to create and perform quality music that not only matters, but will also stand the test of time.
