Mexican Rhythmic Acoustic Guitar Duo, Rodrigo y Gabriela, play Cincinnati tonight
Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriele Quintero of Rodrigo y Gabriela, both originally hailing from Mexico, bring their fast paced rhythmic acoustic guitar style to Cincinnati tonight at Covington’s Madison Theater. The duo met in Mexico City while playing for a band called “Tierra Acida”. Known for its heavy metal nature, the two were not garnering the type of attention they had wished for themselves. The two decided to leave Mexico for broader horizons. They moved to Europe, and more specifically, Dublin Ireland. The two developed their sound through extensive touring of the pub scene throughout Ireland. They began to develop a fan base and interest across Ireland and started touring music festivals in the United Kingdom. The band has moved on to touring round the world after developing a strong fan base. Featured on NPR’s show All Things Considered, the duo has developed into a must see across the United States, and throughout the world for that matter. The band has released three studio albums and two live recordings.
