New hand inked and digital art release from Cincinnati designer Joshua Timmermans.

New hand drawn and digital art titled "Flow" from Joshua Timmermans. 2010

Today we are presenting a new mixed media art release from graphic designer Joshua Timmermans of Noble Visions Design and Photography.  The piece titled “Flow” was worked on over a period of two months.  The initial idea for the design was roughly sketched out.  Once the general idea and direction of the design was conceived, the rough outline was created on 14″ x 17″ 100lb piece of smooth Bristol paper.  After the design took its final shape in pencil, the entire object was inked using a Rapidograph and other inking methods.  The next step in the process was to transfer the image to a digital format.  This was accomplished by scanning the design at high-resolution.  Once the design had been scanned in, it was then imported to Adobe Illustrator.  Here we cleaned up the shapes individually and create vectors from the initial hand drawn shapes.  Once we had the wire frame of the design in vector form, we then used the vast tools in Illustrator to create unique internal designs for the native shapes.  This stage of the process was the most tedious and time demanding aspect of the entire project.  Creating raw vector shapes is a time-consuming process, but if done properly, the results can be outstanding.  After each shape was given its unique look, the color scheme of the design was then applied.  Choosing the entire color spectrum as the focal point of the design was an instinctual decision, as it just fit the “Flow” of the concept.

This piece will be one of the many featured at an upcoming gallery showing for Joshua Timmermans of Noble Visions Design and Photography.  This piece is available in various forms.  They include a small run of fine gallery prints, t-shirt variations, a limited edition hemp paper print, and smaller 5″ x 7″ & 8″ x 10″.  For more information on this print or Joshua Timmermans, please email info@noblevisions.com or visit http://www.noblevisions.com
